Investors to reveal their top cities

Some of the UK’s and Asia’s most high-profile investors are to reveal the cities outside London where they are most likely to invest.

In a special one-hour webcast, they will bring to light their opinions on destinations on anywhere from Munich to Manchester and Berlin to Birmingham.

In the debate, Looking Beyond London, EG editor Damian Wild, who is chairing, will draw from the principals their strategies, constraints, hopes and fears in spending outside of the UK’s safe and thriving capital.
Their thoughts will be screened in an hour-long programme on EGi from Tuesday 26 November.

Investors taking part include:
• Kent Gardner, chief executive, Evans Randall
• Hideto Yamada, managing director, Europe, Mitsui Fudosan
• Rob Howe, head of UK real estate, Valad Property Group
• Lynda Shillaw, head of real estate, Scottish Widows Investment Partnership

The debate will be led by an EG Twitter poll in the preceding weeks, in which followers will be asked for their thoughts on the most investable city or region outside London; a development or infrastructure scheme that would make their own cities more appealing to investors; and what the biggest commercial successes or failures of those cities have been.

In one part of the event, which is sponsored by BNP Paribas Real Estate, the firm’s Richard Garside, Gavin Willins and Andrew Meikle, will also make a pitch for London, Scotland and Birmingham respectively.

This webcast comes as the market is seeing some of the most activity it has since the recession, and for once, it’s not London-centric.
