Invista REIM’s head of European Funds, Tony Smedley, is moving to Schroder Property Investment Management to take up a newly-created role as head of pan-European fund management.
He will be based in London and will report to Duncan Owen, Schroders head of property funds.
Smedley will manage the Matrix European Real Estate Trust, a recent mandate win for Schroders. He was previously manager of Invista REIM’s €1.5bn pan- European investment business.
Smedley will work with Owen supporting new European funds and existing funds with European exposure.
Owen said: “An important part of our business strategy is to continue to develop as market leader in the management of pan European funds. This is a very positive step forward as Tony will be able to work closely with me in developing our business across Continental Europe with an emphasis on Pan European Funds. He has a long standing track record within these markets and will be an integral part of the business moving forward.”
Schroders has global real estate assets of £10.2 billion under management as of March 2012.
