MEPC, the manager and developer of Milton Park, has signed endurance race organiser Ironman to take space at the Oxfordshire business and science park.
The company, which claims its one-day triathlon challenge is the world’s toughest, will take 2,227 sq ft of office space at 6G Park Square in the heart of the park.
With offices across the globe covering events in Europe, the Americas, Oceania, Asia and Africa, the US business has moved to Milton Park following a quadrupling of participants in the past four years in the UK. The move will help facilitate its ambitions to move further into the endurance sector with new events being developed.
The news comes after MEPC recently announced that work had started on site at the 7.6-acre Park Drive East. This is one of Oxfordshire’s largest speculative office and laboratory developments, comprising a grade-A office building and two high-tech laboratory facilities.
James Dipple, chief executive at MEPC, said: “As a globally-recognised brand, Ironman will be an asset to the park and is hoped to reinforce Milton Park’s international appeal. We received very strong interest in this building, which illustrates the ongoing demand for well-located units.”
Kevin Stewart, managing director of Ironman UK, said: “Ironman moved to Oxfordshire in 2011 and has since grown from five to 25 employees. With the latest expansion, we were looking for high quality office space with good transport links and the ability to attract new staff to fill key positions. We are pleased to be joining so many successful business on the park and I hope that our presence will encourage more staff at the park to take up swim, bike, run with Ironman.”
MEPC dealt directly with Ironman on the deal.
