It has been three years since Katy Jordan’s planning nightmare began. Jordan, who runs a small housebuilder called Storey Homes, bought a plot of land with the hope of building 203 houses and flats on it.
She applied for planning permission in April 2016. Although the scheme in Woburn Sands, a small town near Milton Keynes, was recommended for approval by council officials, it was rejected by the elected councillors on the planning committee.
When Jordan appealed, the local Conservative MP, Iain Stewart, wrote to the then housing secretary, Sajid Javid, asking him to intervene and block the scheme. After a planning inspector said Storey Homes should be granted permission, James Brokenshire, Javid’s successor, scuppered the proposal.
