Docklands event venue ExCeL has signed a £110m deal with EDS to supply the centre’s £250m first phase with IT and telecoms.
The ‘Smart Business Centre’ will allow visitors access to technology while participating at the events. An on-site media centre is also being set up, comprising TV and radio studios, with the capability for live link-ups.
Iain Shearer, chief executive officer at ExCeL, said: “We want to focus on helping event organisers grow events successfully here. We believe a core part of delivering this is to focus on how the venue can help organisers attract more business visitors to the event.”
The scheme’s first phase is due to open in November.
