Some 200 property golfers gathered recently at Woburn Golf and Country Club for the Argent Property Cup 2005 in association with Estates Gazette.
The teams each comprised four players, with a pair from each team playing over two of the championship courses – the Duke’s and Duchess. The eventual winners of the Argent Property Cup 2005 were the team from UK Parking – Ron Prentice, Paul Wardle, Mike Ramsden and Rick Davies — with a combined score of 81 points won on a back nine count-back from AYH. The Faithful & Gould Team Trophy was won by Kier Regional for the second year running, followed by Weedon Partnerships, again on a count-back.
Once again the weather played a big part — big promises of sunshine all morning were not realised, but it was still a drier day than on previous years. The rain did make an appearance on several occasions but didn’t seem to dampen spirits.
New for this year’s event was an additional HBG UK nearest the pin and longest drive competition on each course. Iain Reid, David Humphrey, Paul McEntee and Graham Pardoe were the longest ball hitters. Nearest the pin was won by Tony Ashley, Grant Cristall, Cliff Saunders and Stuart La Frenais.
Approximately £1,400 was raised for Great Ormond Street Hospital as a result of the sweepstake held across the tournament.
The promoters would like to thank all the tournament sponsors – Argent Group, Estates Gazette, HBG UK, Faithful & Gould, GVA Grimley, Icon Display, Adventis Group and Wilson Staff.
