Italian hamlet plans to charge tourists to visit

A picturesque hamlet on the shores of Italy’s Lake Como will start charging visitors €5 a day to snoop around its quaint streets.

Corenno Plinio – population 16 – has a stunning castle, picture-perfect waterfront and spectacular views over the lake to the mountains beyond, and is annually deluged by thousands of tourists.

The €5 charge will pay for themed walks and a virtual reality historical tour, as the hamlet transforms itself into an “open-air museum.”
