IWG signs as first tenant at Olympia

IWG has signed as the first tenant at the £1.3bn Olympia London regeneration scheme.

The flexible office provider has taken 73,000 sq ft in Yoo Capital and Deutsche Finance International’s 550,000 sq ft office building on Hammersmith Road, W14.

It will occupy the entire fifth floor of One Olympia, where it will provide flexible workspace facilities.

The Heatherwick Studio and SPPARC-designed building, which is set to open next year, includes 50,000 sq ft of outdoor terraces and amenities including an F&B venue, gyms, business events and conference space and a cycle and wellness hub.

Deutsche Finance International and Yoo Capital acquired the Olympia London exhibition centre from Capital & Counties for £296m in 2017.

Yoo Group chairman John Hitchcox said: “From the outset, our vision for Olympia has always been to create a cultural ecosystem in west London that sparks creativity and promotes interconnectivity.

“As society redefines how and where we want to work, live and play, a greater sense of flexibility and autonomy is crucial. This new signing with IWG not only endorses the strength of our vision for Olympia but demonstrates our commitment to delivering inspiring workspaces that support and appeal to a like-minded and collaborative community.”

IWG founder and chief executive Mark Dixon said: “The demand for hybrid working continues to soar, and west London is a fantastic place for us to boost our expansion plans.

“This latest signing comes at a time when more and more companies are discovering that flexible working boosts employee happiness and satisfaction, while helping the environment. Our workplace model is also proven to increase productivity and allows a business to scale up or down at significantly reduced costs.”
