Engineering firm Jacobs will complete its 70,000 sq ft office requirement in the North West before the end of the year.
But the firm is only taking 20,000 sq ft in Manchester, dealing a blow to the city centre’s take-up figures. The remainder of its requirement will be satisfied by increasing its space at its current home, Orbit Development’s Park Square in Cheadle.
The 20,000 sq ft the engineering firm is taking in the city will be at Ask Developments’ 180,000sq ft Number One First Street.
At Park Square it will increase its space from 22,000 sq ft to 50,000 sq ft, paying around £12 per sq ft.
The company had been heavily tipped to relocate to the city centre in its entirety, but could not reach an agreement internally, sources said.
Vail Williams is advising Jacobs; GVA and DTZ are joint agents on Park Square; Savills and CBRE are joint agents on Number One First Street.
