JCB unveils Uttoxeter regeneration plans

JCB has unveiled its masterplan for the regeneration of a former factory site in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.

The plant machine manufacturer has submitted a planning application to build 50,000 sq ft of shops, a 50,000 sq ft innovation centre, a health complex, and 257 homes on the 22-acre plot in Uttoxeter town centre.

Architects McDowell+Benedetti devised the scheme after winning a design competition run by the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Six practices were invited to submit proposals, with McDowell+Benedetti selected in preference to fellow finalists Glenn Howells Architects.

JCB Chairman, Sir Anthony Bamford said: “I believe the design masterplan which McDowell+Benedetti has conceived will give the town of Uttoxeter a development to be proud of.”

East Staffordshire council will consider the application in the New Year.
