JD Sports has once more been told it cannot keep Footasylum.
The Competition and Markets Authority this morning has again provisionally prohibited the £90m takeover deal, first agreed in March 2019.
JD Sports said it “remains committed” to the merger, and quoted the Competition Appeal Tribunal from 4 March, which said that the CMA has “acted irrationally” in prohibiting the deal.
JD Sports added: “These findings are provisional and we will continue to make our case strongly to the CMA before it releases its final report, due in October 2021.”
Executive chair Peter Cowgill said he was “perplexed and again disappointed”.
