JD Sports founders to float Footasylum

The founders of JD Sports intend to float their latest retail business in a listing that could earn them tens of millions of pounds.

Footasylum, the fashion, footwear and clothing company built by David Makin and John Wardle, is expected to quote on the Alternative Investment Market next month.

The company, which targets 16 to 24-year-olds, operates nearly 60 stores across the country and plans to almost treble this number after an initial public offering by opening branches at a rate of between eight and ten a year. It employs more than 2,000 staff and sells 300 brands, including Adidas, Nike and North Face.
