Jeff Fairburn returns as housebuilder boss

Former chief executive of Persimmon Jeff Fairburn has resurfaced as the boss of another Yorkshire housebuilder.

Fairburn, who was fired by Persimmon after causing outcry with his £76m bonus, has been appointed chief executive of Berkeley Deveer, after buying a 50% stake in the business.

He has kept a low profile after leaving Persimmon in November 2018, where he was responsible for tripling profit per house and returning £2.2bn to shareholders.

He was also at the helm when Persimmon’s houses where deemed to be ‘potentially unsafe’ and decried as being shoddily built.

Berkeley Deveer builds homes in the North of England, with prices starting at around £200,000.
