Savills has boosted its auction team by hiring a highly regarded auctioneer from online auction house BidX1.
Jeremy Lamb has joined Savills two years after BidX1 acquired his previous firm, London-based ballroom auctioneer Andrews & Robertson. He joins as a director, working with directors Chris Coleman Smith, Paul Mooney and Robin Howeson.
He arrives as Savills has been forced to turn its ballroom auctions into remote-bidding events via video streaming due to the coronavirus, with the first such sale held last week.
Coleman Smith said: “It’s great he’s joined us. He’ll fit in really well. It’s just a bit strange – we had planned to go for a drink after our March auction.
But he added: “With us going remote for the next however many months, it’s fortuitous that Jeremy – with his online experience – has joined us now.”
Lamb was a director at A&R, led by Robin Cripp. The sale to BidX1 marked the Irish online auctioneer’s first step into the UK market.
