JLL appoints new Scottish lease advisory boss

JLL has hired Andrew Cartmail as a director to lead its lease advisory team in Scotland, replacing Sandy Gray in the role.

Gray is set to retire in March after more than 30 years at the agency.

Cartmail, pictured, specialises in lease renewals, rent reviews and restructures. He joins the firm from his namesake firm Cartmail Property Consultants, which he founded in 2017.

In recent years he has restructured leases on more than 1.2m sq ft of accommodation and negotiated over £17.5m of rental concessions for occupier clients.

Before that, Cartmail was a senior director at BNP Paribas Real Estate, where he spent 19 years, seven of which as head of its Edinburgh office. He is also a member of the RICS dispute resolution panel.

Alasdair Humphery, head of JLL in Scotland, said: “It’s absolutely great to be able to attract such a high-calibre specialist, and I’m sure his contribution will be immediate.

“His arrival, together with our recent promotions, underlines our commitment to providing our clients with the right specialists to meet their needs.”
