JLL buys City firm Hargreaves Goswell

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) has bought niche City firm Hargreaves Goswell for a rumoured £4m.

The acquisition will see Colin Hargreaves and Angus Goswell return to a large corporate agent after three years.

In 2003, they quit Cushman & Wakefield to set up Hargreaves Goswell Down with former CB Richard Ellis director Stephen Down.

The purchase is intended to help JLL recapture market share in the City from CBRE.

Down split from the firm in July to join its backers, Swedish-based Catella, to launch a UK investment practice.

The deal was signed on Tuesday night.

Neil Prime, JLL’s head of office agency, said: “The acquisition of Hargreaves Goswell is a key part of our strategy to strengthen and grow our agency business.”

City agency experts Hargreaves and Goswell join JLL as international directors and bring three other staff with them, including Sam Boreham, who will be an associate.
