JLL ends CBI membership

JLL has ended its membership of the CBI, joining the list of companies to sever ties with the organisation over its growing scandals.

The latest moves come after reports of a second rape allegation made against male members of CBI staff.

Stephanie Hyde, UK chief executive at JLL, said: “We are terminating our membership of the CBI with immediate effect and have made them aware.

“In light of the distressing allegations, which continue to point a culture that isn’t aligned to our values, our relationship with the CBI has become untenable.”

In response to the latest allegations, which were revealed by The Guardian, CBI president Brian McBride said: “The latest allegations put to us by The Guardian are abhorrent and our hearts go out to any women who have been victims of the behaviour described. While the CBI was not previously aware of the most serious allegations, it is vital that they are thoroughly investigated now and we are liaising closely with the police to help ensure any perpetrators are brought to justice.”

On Friday, companies including Aviva, NatWest, BMW and Virgin Media O2 have ended or paused their membership of the organisation.
