Jones Lang LaSalle has retained its crown as the UK’s most active agent. The agency notched up a trio of table-topping performances to become most active investment and industrial agent, as well as taking the overall category in EGi’s 2013 deals competition.
However, CBRE prevented JLL making a clean sweep by taking the office agent’s crown for the first time in the competition’s 13-year history. It pushed JLL off the top spot with less than 1% separating them.
Deals from JLL’s industrial and office businesses were the biggest contributor to its gold position making up more than three-quarters of its total.
Savills slipped from third to fourth this year.
In the regions it was again the independents which won the day with Alder King securing its 13th win in the south West and Ryden tying up a decade at the top for Scotland.
In Wales, Jenkins Best Commercial made its first entrance into the rankings despite only being set up in spring 2012.
Seven out of the 12 regions featured a local agent at the top of the rankings.
Anna Reed, head of EGi Research, said: “There’s a curious dichotomy within the market right now: at the top end we’re seeing the two acquisitive US giants really locking horns and pulling away from the rest of the industry in terms of deals volumes, but at the same time this is an industry which, at regional level at least, remains defiantly the preserve of the smaller, local players.
“It will be interesting to see whether either of these elements will be sustained.”
