JLL shuts down auctions

Jones Lang LaSalle’s auction today will be its last.

The firm made the decision to close the department on Tuesday following period of consultation which began just after Easter. Staff were informed yesterday.

JLL reacquired an auctions team following its acquisition of King Sturge last May.

Lead auctioneer Felix Rigg said: “The team have signed consent forms and a compromise agreement but I have not, and so I can confirm that today’s auction will be our last under the JLL banner.”

The team of five: Rigg, Jason Birch, auction director, Simon Bailey, auctioneer, and Mat Harris, surveyor, together with administrator Charlotte Maynard, have not been offered alternative employment within the global agent.

The original auction team left JLL in 2010.
