The Metropolitan Police has appointed Jones Lang LaSalle to handle the sale of New Scotland Yard, SW1, which could raise as much as £150m.
Bids were called in April for the three-year contract valued at up to £500,000 to handle the freehold sale of the Met Police’s iconic home.
New Scotland Yard was bought from Land Securities in 2008 for around £120m.
In 2015 the Metropolitan Police will move from its current 550,000 sq ft headquarters in Victoria to the refurbished Curtis Green building on the Victoria Embankment, which will be renamed Scotland Yard.
A Jones Lang LaSalle spokesman said: “We can confirm that JLL has been appointed to carry out the sale of New Scotland Yard on behalf of the Metropolitan Police Service. This 1.75-acre freehold site is a globally renowned address in the heart of one of the most active development markets in central London and will be an attractive proposition to many potential buyers.”
The move forms part of a strategy to save £500m per year by 2015-16.
