John Lewis eyes online store

John Lewis has announced plans to open a John Lewis at Home store in Chichester, West Sussex.

The retailer will invest £8m in the development on PRUPIM’s Chichester retail park. The 40,000 sq ft shop will be split over two floors and open in spring 2012.

Customers will also be able to use the free John Lewis Click and Collect service, which enables shoppers to place orders online before 7pm and collect their purchases in-store after 2pm the following day.

John Lewis at Home Chichester will be the eighth shop of its type to open in the UK since 2009 and supports the retailer’s ambition to have ten “At Home” shops open by the end of 2012.

Tim Harrison, head of format development, said: “Opening in the area has long been an aspiration for us. The ‘At Home’ format has been very well received by customers for its convenience and ease and we look forward to providing shoppers with our differentiated service, inspiring products and great value.”

Cushman & Wakefield and Ashworths Chartered Surveyors acted for John Lewis.
