John Lewis makes Irish debut

John-Lewis-sign-THUMB.jpegJohn Lewis is making its first foray into the Irish market this year in a deal with department store Arnotts.

The retailer will open a John Lewis section in its Henry Street, Dublin 1, store, spanning two floors and around 2,000 sq ft.

Customers will be able to purchase 700 items from the John Lewis’s own-brand home and lifestyle range including furniture and kitchenware.

The product line will also be sold on the Arnotts website. John Lewis began selling to consumers in Ireland from its own website in 2011.

The initiative follows Selfridges’ acquisition of Arnotts in November last year.

A John Lewis spokesman said: “This is a great opportunity to bring the John Lewis home assortment to our existing customer base in Ireland as well as new customers who are looking for great quality and inspiring products for their home.”

He added that there was a “natural affinity” between the two brands.

While there has been speculation that John Lewis may expand in Ireland, the retailer said it currently had no plans to open a department store there.
