John Lewis is to spend £20m adding a food hall to its Bluewater department store.
The food hall will be added as part of of a refurbishment of the 10-year-old store and will be built in its basement.
It will be the second in-store supermarket for the group – which owns the Waitrose brand – following on from the addition of a food hall at its flagship Oxford Street store.
Managing director Andy Street said: “Following the success of our Oxford Street food hall since its opening in October 2007, we have been eager to open another at a branch outside London.
“We believe it will greatly enhance the shopping experience for our customers at Bluewater.”
