John Lewis writes down offices by £15.6m

The John Lewis Partnership has written down the value of its head offices by £15.6m.

The writedown came after the John Lewis and Waitrose retailer closed seven floors of its central London headquarters and “revised” the use of its office buildings in Bracknell, Berkshire, according to new annual account filings.

John Lewis Partnership said last month it was ending the lease on its head office in London early as it needed less space after allowing staff to work from home since the pandemic. The partnership had 220,000 sq ft of space in Victoria, but needed only 100,000 sq ft, it said.
