John Walker leaves BURA to take government job

John Walker will stand down as chief executive at the British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA) at the end of the year to join the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM).

Walker, who has been chief executive of the regeneration organisation for two and a half years, will now work with the ODPM to prepare the Communities Plan.

The plan, to be published in the new year, will include details of upcoming planning system reforms, policies to tackle the housing shortage in London and the South East and
plans to revitalise communities suffering from low demand in the North and Midlands.

The board of BURA is reviewing its management structure and will make an announcement on Walker’s successor shortly.
