Johnson Matthey move to the City

Johnson Matthey — whose banking division was bailed out by the Bank of England last year — have moved their headquarters following “a review of their operations”.

Environmental engineers Haden have taken their lease on 100 High Street, Southgate, N14 — a 64,000-sq ft office building with a two-storey car park capable of housing 175 vehicles. No premium was paid, and the lease has 11 years to run, with a rent review in four years. The current rent is £450,000 pa, which works out at £7.50 per sq ft.

Johnson Matthey have shifted their headquarters to the City, dividing the operations between two buildings which they occupy, New Garden House and 43 Hatton Garden, EC1.

Hillier Parker advised Johnson Matthey, while Hugh Raynor & Associates acted for Hadden. Both agents have been retained by Haden to sublet about 19,000 sq ft which the company does not need.
