Landcrest Developments and computer software firm Kalamazoo have struck a £60m deal which will act as a catalyst for the development of Birmingham’s first hi-tech business park.
As part of the joint venture, Landcrest will build headquarters for Kalamazoo at the company’s site on Mill Lane in Northfields. In return, Kalamazoo will hand over the remainder of its site to Landcrest for conversion into a hi-tech park which will comprise up to 9,290 sq m (100,000 sq ft) of offices.
The Government and the regional development agency (RDA) Advantage West Midlands want to create a hi-tech corridor in the region, running along the A38 from Birmingham into north Worcestershire.
Brian Parker, chairman and chief executive of Landcrest, said: “We will be creating an information technology park for computer-related industry that will be the biggest of its kind in the area.”
Kalamazoo’s headquarters will be completed by summer 2001.
Legal adviser to Landcrest was Hammond Suddards Edge.
