JP Morgan has appointed Christoph Bergweiler as its new head of JP Morgan Asset Management in Germany.
He succeeds current head of Germany, Peter Schwicht, who will become new head of Europe and will be based in the London. Bergweiler will be reporting to Schwicht and JP Morgan’s head of Italy, Massimo Greco.
Bergweiler started his career in 2000 at the business financing division of Frankfurt-based IKB Deutsche Industriebank, moving to JP Morgan Asset Management’s sales department in 2001 and taking over responsibility for local distribution channels such as banks, Sparkassen, insurance companies, asset management and independent distributors.
Since 2008 Bergweiler has been head of the retail department, where he was responsible for the Germany-wide sale of public funds. In the same year he was appointed as managing director and joined the management board in Germany.
New head of Europe Peter Schwicht will take over responsibility for JP Morgan Asset Management Europe, the Middle East and Africa, replacing Jamie Broderick, who will be leaving the company after 20 years.
Besides managing JP Morgan’s German business, Schwicht has also been responsible for transactions in Austria, Switzerland, eastern Europe and Scandinavia as well as institutional business in Continental Europe. He started at JP Morgan in 1987. During his 25-year career, Schwicht gathered experience on different positions in the divisions, retail, positioning and distribution in Frankfurt and New York.
