Judicial review sought over container terminal

Environmentalists are threatening to seek a judicial review if a new £600m container terminal at Dibden Bay, near Southampton, is approved.

Ministers are soon to decide on the Associated British Ports facility on the river Test, the first of a number of plans for huge container ports to come before them.

Applications have also been made for a container terminal at Shell Haven, on the Thames, by P&O Ports; a terminal at Bathside Bay, hear Harwich, Essex, by Hutchison Ports and another by Hutchison to redevelop the south end of Felixstowe docks, Suffolk, as a container terminal.
