Former Tishman Speyer UK managing director Julian Stocks is joining Deloitte Real Estate to bolster its London asset management team.
Deloitte managing director Richard Owen said Stocks’ appointment as a senior partner was the first of several major London hires he expects to make in the next six to nine months.
Stocks stepped down as head of Tishman’s UK operation in April, after two-and-a-half years at the helm.
He has since been on gardening leave, but will join Deloitte in August where he will be based in the firm’s London office.
The former head of capital markets at Jones Lang LaSalle will play a leading role on Deloitte’s key London mandates, advising the likes of the Pollen Estate, the Mercers’ Company and Christ’s Hospital Foundation on their property strategies.
He said: “As advisers to most public and private companies, Deloitte Real Estate brings an insight and knowledge that very few can match, thus adding real value to owners and occupiers.
“Joining a private partnership with a long-term approach to client relationships is also very important to me.”
Owen said: “We are delighted he has chosen to join the team, as he is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding practitioners of his generation.”
He added that he was already in talks over bolstering other areas of the property advisory business in the capital.
“Whenever you get less buoyant financial situations there is a flight to prime and in a global sense London represents perhaps the most prime investment of all,” he said.
“But it is not a boom town driven off the likes of oil or energy. The dynamics of the London market are permanent.”
