There are now just two vacant sheds of more than 0.5m sq ft in the UK, according to CB Richard Ellis.
The CBRE half-year UK industrial market view shows available logistics space at the end of the second quarter stands at 31.2m sq ft, 28% down on the same time last year.
Only the 528,000 sq ft Crackerjack in Corby (pictured) and 590,000 sq ft former Focus DIY warehouse in Tamworth offer vacant space above 0.5m sq ft.
Paul Farrow, head of industrial agency at CBRE, said: “Logistics deals in the 100,000 sq ft to 250,000 sq ft range have become more dominant during the first half of 2011 as a result of a diminishing amount of large, ready-to-occupy buildings.
“Larger requirements will now have to consider design-and-build options, and our expectation is for activity to increase in this arena, particularly in core distribution locations.”
