Kadans eyes F&B offering with Abingdon Science Park café

Kadans Science Partner wants to open an eponymous café at the entrance to Abingdon Science Park in Oxfordshire.

The site would be the first of its kind for the company, better known for its lab space.

Designed by Coleman Hicks Partnership, it will measure 1,937 sq ft over a single ground floor, comprising café, meeting room and hot-desking space. It will also feature a biodiverse green roof.

The developer has lodged plans for the scheme after a café run by Houston & Hawkes in Kadans’ Barton House building, initially intended to be open to everyone on the science park, was switched to serve only users of that building.

Kadans has identified the need for a similar stand-alone facility for the park.

Barton House was completed in February this year, planning approval having been secured in July 2022.

Abingdon Science Park is home to a community of knowledge-intensive organisations including GeneFirst, Sherlock Biosciences, Akamis Bio, Penlon, OxDevice, Helix Geospace.

Properties on the park are jointly leased by DTRE and Bidwells.
