Kadans hires director to put UK portfolio ‘on the map’

Kadans Science Partner has expanded its UK team with the appointment of Bevan McWilliam as director of business for life sciences.

The Netherlands-headquartered developer launched a hunt for the newly created role in June. The appointment is expected to bolster Kadans’ leasing strategy across its UK developments and put its growing portfolio “on the map”, the company said.

McWilliam has previously served as business relationship manager at the London BioScience Innovation Centre, overseeing its contract negotiations, account management and client relations for almost a decade. He was also director of corporate development for Europe at
Crown Bioscience and, most recently, commercialisation director at Gyroscope London.

In his new role, McWilliam will focus on attracting new tenants to the firm’s growing portfolio of buildings and work closely with Kadans’ pan-European sales teams to make best use of the developer’s global network. He will be based in Canary Wharf at 20 Water Street, E14, where Kadans launched its London Innovation Centre last year, spanning 40,000 sq ft of workspace across two floors.

McWilliam said: “I am thrilled to be part of such an innovative and dynamic team, and I look forward to contributing to the growth and success of the company in the laboratory space sector.”

The expansion of Kadans’ UK team comes shortly after Oli Appleyard was hired as leasing manager in April. He joined from Knight Frank and is working alongside property portfolio manager Mark Hanna and head of UK leasing Katie Nelson.

Last year, Kadans outlined plans to expand its UK headcount, with an ambition to grow the team to 16 experts by the end of 2023 and add more people during 2024.
