Kampus planning permission secured

Kampus ManchesterHenry Boot Developments and Capital & Centric have secured planning permission for the first phase of Kampus, a £200m Manchester redevelopment scheme.

The first phase of the mixed-use scheme will include 478 PRS units along with 30,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space on the former Manchester Metropolitan University Business School site in the city centre.

Demolition will start in the autumn and the first units are expected to be ready by the start of 2019.

A planning application for the next phase of the scheme, which will convert the Minto & Turner and Minshull House warehouses into loft apartments and restaurant space, will be submitted by the end of the year.

Adam Brady, development director for Henry Boot Developments, said: “This is a real landmark moment for Kampus and brings the regeneration of this neglected part of the city centre one step closer to fruition.

“From the outset we wanted to work with the site’s existing buildings and spaces to create a real neighbourhood feel and not just something new and shiny that lacked soul.”

Deloitte acted as planning consultant for the joint venture.
