Kensington Odeon’s big picture is back in spotlight

Kensington and Chelsea council wants “crisis talks” with the new owner of the empty Kensington Odeon cinema to bring it back into use, or it could compulsorily purchase it.

The art deco cinema and neighbouring buildings had been owned by Delancey, a property group, which won planning permission in 2015 to turn the site into flats.

No work has started on the scheme, called “The Kensington”, and the site has been empty for two years since the Odeon stopped showing films.
