Kent County Council has appointed Knight Frank to sell a £23m GDV residential development opportunity, located on the 4.2-acre site of the former Chaucer Technology School.
The site, allocated for residential development in the draft Canterbury District Local Plan 2020, is being flagged for offers over £3m.
It has a positive pre-application response for a residential-led scheme for a minimum of 70 residential homes with a 30% provision for affordable housing.
The site has also been accepted in principle, following discussions with Canterbury City Council, for a student housing scheme for a 597-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme.
Chaucer Technology School has been demolished and the site comprises of green open space with a hard standing disused car park in the southwest corner.
Aimée Pritchard-Davies, a partner in the City & East Land team at Knight Frank, said: “This project presents a unique opportunity for both residential and student accommodation which will, once completed, contribute to the growth and vitality of Canterbury.”
