New funding has been secured to redevelop a former railway works site in Kent as a film studio.
The Ashford International Studios scheme will be backed with more than £14.7m from the Levelling Up Fund. It will be developed by Ashford International Development Company – a joint venture between Ashford Borough Council and Quinn Estates – in collaboration with college operator EKC Group and a yet to be identified film and TV studios operator.
The studios will be developed on the near-12-acre Newton Railway Works site, which comprises five Grade II listed buildings.
