Kent launches housing action plan

Kent County Council has launched a housing action plan for Kent and Medway aimed at meeting local housing demand and creating homes and communities across the county.

Better homes: localism, aspiration and choice, was launched as a blueprint for housing in Kent and Medway. As well as addressing housing needs across the county, the report also aims at simplifying the regulatory framework for development, to help get growth moving again and incentivising public agencies to make public sector land available for development.

Better homes is being published by the Kent Forum – made up of borough, district, unitary and county council leaders.

Paul Carter, Kent County Council leader and chair of the Kent Forum, said: “We need to do what the Victorians did so well and intelligently plan for housing growth. We need to forward plan so that we can manage growth – not just housing but strong communities with good infrastructure and with a real sense of place.”
