Kentucky skyscraper

Plans for a $380m mixed-use skyscraper aimed at bringing the “Bilbao effect” to downtown Louisville, Kentucky, USA, were unveiled last week. The 61-storey, 703ft Museum Plaza, designed by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, will be developed by Laura Lee Brown and husband Steve Wilson, who have extensive holdings in Jack Daniels producer Brown-Forman, and local developer Steve Poe. The trio of towers will house two museums, a 280-bedroom hotel, 226,000 sq ft of offices, 200 condominiums, restaurants, a farmers’ market and shops. The 1m sq ft scheme is due to be completed in 2010.
