Knight Frank has been appointed to sell Bawdsey Manor in Suffolk, with a guide price of £5m.
The Grade II* listed manor house and coastal estate, which spans approximately 144 acres and has 78,000 sq ft of principal buildings, was built in 1886.
The manor was originally built as a holiday home for the owner William Cuthbert Quilter, before being sold to the Air Ministry in 1937. In 1994, the Ministry of Defence sold the estate and the site became home to Alexanders College until its closure earlier this year.
It is being sold as a whole or in lots by Knight Frank’s institutional consultancy and country departments. It has the potential for various uses and development, and is expected to attract leisure, institutional and residential developers.
