Fast-food chain KFC is looking to open around 60 new restaurants in London this year as part of a UK-wide expansion.
It has instructed niche property agency CDG Leisure to oversee the strategy.
The instruction forms part of a wider expansion plan to acquire an additional 500 sites across the UK in the next five years.
The company recently agreed deals for two new London outlets: a new 2,500 sq ft restaurant at 128 Borough High Street, SE1, in the former Roxy Bar & Screen Cinema, on which it has taken a 30-year lease; and a 1,230 sq ft site on Camden High Street, N1, on which it has taken a 30-year lease, paying £42,000 pa.
Its inner city requirements range from 1,000 to 4,000 sq ft. For drive-through restaurants in out-of-town locations, the chain is looking for sites of around 0.3 acres.
