KFC has been thwarting planning policies designed to battle obesity by banning fast-food outlets near schools.
At least 43 local councils in England and Wales have had their anti-obesity policies challenged by KFC since 2017.
In 16 out of the 43 cases, KFC’s challenges have successfully convinced planning inspectors to throw out a council’s policy. In a further eight cases, KFC’s submissions helped convince inspectors to significantly water down the policies.
