Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has launched a “vision” for the Isle of Dogs and South Poplar, in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council.
The Isle of Dogs and South Poplar Opportunity Area Planning Framework sets out a strategy to “break down barriers and increase access to opportunities between the Isle of Dogs and South Poplar”.
The Isle of Dogs has seen thousands of luxury homes developed around the docks and the Canary Wharf estate.
City Hall said Khan wants development guided by “good growth”, which should benefit existing communities and deliver key infrastructure.
Deputy mayor for planning, regeneration and skills Jules Pipe said: “This document will help deliver hundreds of homes and thousands of jobs in east London, while ensuring that established communities benefit, too. We have particularly emphasised design and delivery, so that any construction disruption is minimised.”
