Grimsby Town Football Club’s new stadium (pictured) and an adjacent retail park have been given the go-ahead by the Secretary of State.
Chiltern Investment Properties’ scheme for the 60-acre (24ha) site, in Grimsby’s western suburbs, includes a 20,100 seat stadium, a 150,000 sq ft (13,935 sq m) retail park, a hotel and three restaurants, along with parking and a park & ride terminal.
The development will mean that the club can move back to its home town from its 10,000-seat stadium in Cleethorpes, where it has been based for the last century.
