Kier announces twelfth year of successive growth

Construction and property company Kier Property has announced its twelfth year of successive growth.

In a shareholder meeting on the company’s financial year to 30 June 2004, chief executive John Dodds said that prospects in Kier’s markets were encouraging overall.

He also said the group had made a strong start to the new financial year.

The group signed a contract on Friday with Network Rail for a regeneration project at Poole Harbour. The six-acre site will provide 260 homes and will involve the redevelopment of the railway station and the construction of commercial development.

He added that the advance sale of the National Trust headquarters building in Swindon provided the company with an £18.2m cash inflow in July.

Kier’s housing completions and current forward order book are 13% ahead of last year. The company has secured over 68% of its projected unit sales for the current year.

However, Kier said that residential viewings reservations were now lower than this time last year.

The company also said its construction businesses had continued their robust performance in the first quarter of the year.
