Kier execs depart in management overhaul

Kier Group executive directors Nigel Turner and Nigel Brook are to stand down from the board and leave the company.

Turner has been with the company for more than 15 years, having joined in 2001. He became executive director for development and property services in 2015.

Brook joined Kier in 2008 from AMEC as managing director. He was appointed executive director in 2015, overseeing construction and infrastructure services.

At the same time, Kier has promoted strategy and corporate development director Claudio Veritiero to chief operating officer.

Veritiero has spent more than 14 years in the industry and joined Kier in 2011 as managing director of the services division. Prior to joining Kier, he was chief operating officer at Speedy Hire.

Kier chief executive Haydn Mursell said: “This change of board structure and Claudio’s appointment reflects the streamlining principles of the Future Proofing Kier programme. Claudio has made a significant contribution to the group since joining in 2014, particularly in his most recent role, where he has had a broad mandate across the whole group.”

He added: “Under Nigel Brook’s leadership, our construction and infrastructure services division has performed well in a challenging and changing market. Nigel Turner has played a significant role in the growth of the property business and the development of the property team. On behalf of the board, I thank them for their support and wish them well for the future.”
