Liverpool’s proposed tallest building has undergone yet another redesign, this time to create a 67-storey giant cross on the city’s waterfront.
Manchester-based architect Maurice Shapero has drawn up a fourth set of designs for the £130m King Edward tower.
The scheme, which was first proposed more than five years ago, is being led by local developers Richmont Properties and Custard Pie Properties.
Initial designs by Leach Rhodes Walker were dumped in 2010 after being criticised by government architecture watchdog CABE.
The latest plans include a cantilevered restaurant forming a cross across the front of the building.
The tower, rising to around 650ft, will also feature 350 flats, 21,000 sq ft of shops and 84,000 sq ft of offices.
A date has not been given for the submission of the new plans.
