King’s College London is considering options that could see it launch a 100,000 sq ft office requirement.
The London university has been scouting for Midtown office blocks suitable as a base for its administrative functions.
The space would be in addition to KCL’s five campuses across the capital, which include Denmark Hill, SE5, and Strand, WC2. “The college needs more teaching space for classes,” said a source, “and the way to make room is to remove offices from the campuses and put all academic staff into one property.”
Although a decision on the requirement has not yet been made, the university is known to have been looking at several large office blocks, including the 90,000 sq ft 22 Kingsway, which the secretary of state for the environment is seeking to exit.
Delancey founder Jamie Ritblat and former head of Strutt & Parker’s commercial division, David Cripps, advise KCL on its estates strategy.
