Thornfield has unveiled its £160m proposals for the redevelopment of the Kingfisher Centre in Redditch. The expansion will extend the complex to over 92,900 sq m (1m sq ft).
The ambitious redevelopment of the existing scheme will add a total of around 46,450 sq m (500,000 sq ft) of new space and achieve an additional £50m in retail sales per year.
Its retail offer will be expanded to include a 10,219 sq m (110,000 sq ft) department store, plus 12 new retail units, a 2,973 sq m (32,000 sq ft) Wilkinsons store, two variety stores totalling 4,645 sq m (50,000 sq ft) and an 1,672 sq m (18,000 sq ft) indoor market.
Thornfield Redditch Limited Partnership’s proposals also include a 13,935 sq m (150,000 sq ft) leisure quarter, comprising a health and fitness centre, a family entertainment area and possibly a multiplex cinema. A new bus station and rail/taxi interchange is also planned.
