Kingmoor Park Properties has submitted plans for up to 1.1m sq ft of industrial, logistics and manufacturing space in Belah, Carlisle.
The scheme lies between the company’s existing developments, Kingmoor Park North and Kingmoor Park Central.
The 87-acre site currently comprises agricultural grazing land. It was bought by Kingmoor in 1999 and multiple plans for the site have been submitted to the council over the past 20 years. The most recent discussions with the local planning authority were held in summer 2021 and helped shape the new planning strategy for a potential development on the site.
Under the proposals, up to 1.1m sq ft of workspace, designed by Fletcher Rae, will comprise 25% of general industrial facilities and 75% of storage and distribution facilities. Kingmoor is also looking to dedicate about 5% of space in each of the potential 12 buildings for ancillary office space.
One of the warehouses to be constructed on site has already been approved and prelet to DPD. The planning permission for the DPD warehouse was sought separately from the wider development, although forms a part of it.
If approved, the developer expects to start construction of the rest of the scheme in September next year.
